World’s leading financial printer leverages investment in presentation and proposal materials by building an enterprise system to serve a global sales force.

Case Study: Bowne & Co.

Publishing Resources was originally engaged by Bowne & Co. to develop presentation materials. The need for a more inspired solution grew as the body of materials grew and merged with previously existing marketing collateral. At the same time, Bowne’s various units were developing their own marketing materials for the widely dispersed sales staff. The cost for Bowne was growing in lost productivity and money.

Starting in 1998, Publishing Resources proposed that the material be centrally organized, pulling from the best of existing PowerPoint files, sales sheets, and proposals. New presentations and proposals were to be developed and targeted for specific customer groups by corporate, as well as by the different industrial sectors and regional sales groups. It all comes together in a new interactive web-based solution: PresentingBowne.com.

Notables:

  • Launched in 1998, relaunched in 2002, logged thousands of trouble-free user hours
  • Supports more than 500 users in 20 countries
  • Reduced average cost of presentation development from $5,500 to $1,500
  • More than 5,000 presentations created or accessed and downloaded

Access to quality presentation materials on short-notice is having a positive impact on our ability to move business forward in all types of sales situations. Our core business, Financial Printing, has been a heavy user of PresentingBowne. And although it is difficult to ascribe success to a presentation system — or even a presentation — I can tell you that when our team goes out on a sales call, they now do so with better and more consistent presentation materials and we are in a better position to win the business.
